This is a place tainted by abuse, suffering and death… and the ghosts of its dark and violent past are out for revenge. That’s the setting for Bedlam: Season One, the show TV Guide called “Melrose Place-meets-Sixth Sense” and “legitimately creepy.” Arriving on DVD the week after the season finale airs on BBC AMERICA’s Supernatural Saturdays, this DVD set features all six original episodes on two-discs.
In Bedlam, a modern take on the classic haunted house story, Kate (Charlotte Salt, The Tudors) and her father, Warren (Hugo Speer, Skins), have inherited Bedlam Heights and are in the process of renovating the building and, hopefully, their family’s legacy as well by turning the old asylum into luxury apartments. Kate is tasked with selling the apartments, and even lives in one herself along with roommates Ryan (Will Young, Skins) and Molly (Ashley Madekwe, Secret Diary of a Call Girl).
There’s tension around the apartment – both the sexual and the out-of-work-roommate kinds. And that tension doesn’t improve when Kate’s adopted cousin Jed (Theo James, Downton Abbey) unexpectedly arrives on the scene. With a checkered past and mental health issues, Jed’s a troubled man who sees ghosts and visions of the past – and now he’s getting mysterious text messages telling him to “Save Kate.” Gradually Jeduncovers the terrifying secrets held in Bedlam Heights, while trying to retain his sanity. He’s convinced Kate is in danger from the spooks of Bedlam Heights, but unbeknown to him, the truth will be far more terrifying…
