Controller Danny Cohen reaffirms his commitment to ambitious event drama on the channel with the announcement of an adaptation of by the award-winning scriptwriter Andrew Davies.

Announced today, a new six-part adaptation of the epicby Leo Tolstoy for in 2015, will be made by BBC Cymru Wales Drama. Widely regarded as one of the greatest novels of all time, Andrew Davies scripts will draw all the elements into powerful focus for a modern audience.
Andrew Davies says: “Not just a great novel it’s a wonderful read and it’ll make a wonderful serial. A thrilling, funny and heartbreaking story of love, war and family life. The characters are so natural and human and easy to identify with and Natasha Rostova just beats Lizzy Bennet as the most lovable heroine in literature.”
