BBC AMERICA JULY HIGHLIGHTS

MINISTRY OF LAUGHS

BBC AMERICA (@BBCAmerica) brings the best of British comedy to the U.S. in a two-hour block, Ministry of Laughs (#MinistryofLaughs), every Saturday night. Hosted by Chris Hardwick of the Nerdist, the collection features the most hilarious series from the UK including two new family comedies, Friday Night Dinner and Outnumbered, and the UK’s biggest talk show The Graham Norton Show. Ministry of Laughs airs Saturdays, 10:00pm to midnight ET/PT.

FRIDAY NIGHT DINNER – U.S. PREMIERE

Every family has their quirks and the Goodmans prove that they are no exception in Friday Night Dinner, a new comedy, created by Robert Popper (South Park, Peep Show, Look Around You). Some things never change and for the Goodmans it’s their weekly dinner, where the brothers act like kids again and Mom and Dad are as embarrassing as they always have been. From creepy neighbors to family meetings in the restroom, there is never a dull moment at the Goodman residence. It stars Tamsin Greig (Episodes), Simon Bird (The Inbetweeners), Paul Ritter (Pulling), Mark Heap (Spaced) and newcomer Tom Rosenthal. Friday Night Dinner premieres Saturday, July 30, 11:30pm ET/PT.

OUTNUMBERED – BBC AMERICA PREMIERE

The multi-award-winning comedy series captures the turbulent chaos of family life in a way not seen before – at its most deliciously chaotic moments. Two parents, played by Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner, and their three children are locked in an unequal battle. Using elements of improvisation, Outnumbered sees the world as much from the children’s as the adults’ point of view. The parents constantly try to keep their children under control, but completely fail to do so. Eleven-year-old Jake worries about everything from starting at his new school to the world being sucked into a black hole, seven-year-old Ben constantly lies to his parents and always wants to watch Little Britain, and five-year-old Karen seems to have a limitless number of questions. Outnumbered premieres Saturday, July 30, 11:00pm ET/PT.

GORDON RAMSAY’S GREAT ESCAPE – U.S. PREMIERE

On Gordan Ramsay’s latest Great Escape, he sets off on a culinary journey through Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and Malyasia in search of authentic South East Asian cooking. Ramsay may be one of the most renowned chefs on the planet, but when it comes to dishes from South East Asia, he can only cook a pad thai. On his latest adventure, he tracks down the best cooks and chefs to learn the trick to authentic South East Asian cuisine. In true Gordon style, he’ll attempt to master the art of each country’s amazing food and put his neck on the line when his skills are tested by his mentors. It’s an extraordinary journey in which Gordon cooks and eats food that’s definitely not on any western menu, an experience that makes him review his own relationship with food and what may – or may not – be acceptable to eat. Gordon Ramsay’s Great Escape premieres Tuesday, July 12, 9:00pm ET/PT.

BULLITT – BBC AMERICA PREMIERE

San Francisco cop, Frank Bullitt (Steve McQueen), becomes determined to find the kingpin responsible for the murder of a witness that was killed while in his protection. The classic film features McQueen as a tough-guy in one of his most famous roles and one of the most iconic car chases scenes on the streets of San Francisco. Bullitt premieres Sunday, July 3, 12:00 pm ET/PT.

THE ROAD WARRIOR – BBC AMERICA PREMIERE

Mel Gibson stars as Mad Max Rockatansky, a cynical drifter in a post-apocalypitic Australian wasteland. He agrees to protect a small community, rich with priceless petrol, escape a group of bandits while transporting their fuel supply to safety.
